Land O' Scrap

A couple more...

Friday, November 5, 2010

Just a couple more to add to my 50 page challenge...but these two are for OTHER challenges, as well!

This first one is from the Blue Crew Challenges on Scrapjazz.com. The challenge was to use an ad as inspiration for a layout. See the challenge here. This is a 2-page 12x12 layout. Love the ad! It was perfect for the pictures I had in my stack to scrap.

This next page is for the challenge over on Scrap Whispers. Georgina challenged us to use bright colors....and she should recognize most of what I used on this page because it is from a kit I bought from HER! lol!!

Thanks for the challenges, ladies! It keeps me going and helps me towards the ultimate goal: SHOP!

Working towards being able to SHOP!!

Continuing on with my 50 page challenge. I really want to finish this because when I walked in to Michaels to purchase adhesive (which I'm allowed to buy...how else would I finish the challenge? lol!) there were MANY, MANY goodies I wanted to buy. I almost caved, but I was a good girl and put it all back except for the adhesive that I originally went in for.

I think I'll send my daughter to buy my adhesive next time.

All pages are 12x12 and are my own creations this time around. Apparently I'm on a journaling strip phase....can't seem to journal this time around without it being on these strips of paper. Good thing these pages are going in several different albums.

Thanks for looking!!

Trying to use up some supplies

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

I've joined another 50 layout challenge over at Scrapjazz.com. The goal is to complete 50 layouts using stash you currently have and NOT purchase anything new until the 50 pages are done. Since I have enough stash to do this 4 fold without feeling a dent I decided it was time. The last challenge I finished was 100 pages. Hopefully I'll be finished with the 50 pages by the end of the year. I'm a pretty fast scrapper so this isn't unreasonable.

My creativity mojo was not flowing much the last two days but I was completely in the mood to scrap. So I grabbed some old scrap magazines and lifted most of the layouts you see here. It worked pretty well since I was able to finish quite a stack of pages. Some pages are pretty simple and some are more detailed....which is indicitive of how old my magazine was that I was picking layouts from. lol!

Everything here is 12x12, with one two-page 12x12.

The final submission for the TX Scrapfest!

Saturday, August 7, 2010

These first 2 pages are a double layout for the same challenge. My color focus was on my daughter's prom dress.

Challenge #2
Let color inspire you. Scrapbook a photo where color is the most dominant component. Your only other requirement is that you use at least six complementary colors or pattern papers.

The next is for Challenge 1. The significant journaling is short but to the point....our lovely friend Olivia turned 3. Which, btw, is a HUGE deal!

Challenge #1
Find three pictures that represent laughter, light, and love and throw them together on a scrapbook page. Make sure to explain their significance in journaling, and add a bold title.

The last two pages are both for the same challenge. I think my version of a "pennant" is not very traditional in the sense of pennants but I think I managed the rest of it pretty good. lol! I scraplifted the first one off of a sketch site but for the life of me I am unable to find it to reference it. So sorry!!

Challenge #6
Un-clutter your page. Employ a good bit of white space, while at the same time helping your photo stand out with circles, a pennant banner and a whimsical title.

Thanks so much to Lesle for all her hard work the last two weeks. It has been fun and inspiring!! Happy scrapping!

About this Texas Scrapfest thang....

Monday, July 26, 2010

Many years ago (heck, I've lost track of HOW many years ago) I became a member of a little scrapbook board called Scrapjazz. It was a wonderful place to hang my scrapbooking hat for ideas, challenges, and forming some new friendships with people I shared this fun hobby with.

Well, little did I know just how much some of those on-line friendships would impact my life. So much so that I had this unnatural desire to jet off and meet some of these crazies irl!

My first Texas Scrapfest crop was in Dallas, 2007. It was an event to behold! Scrapfest organizer Lesle Mora really put on a spectacular crop. She had t-shirts, prizes and challenges for both participants attending live and the ones who were cyber-connected. There was much laughter and frivolity. I'm not sure about the scrapping. I'm sure there was SOME of that.

But the event also had a wonderful, somber moment when we all released purple balloons in memory of one special little girl, Teegan Wynn O'Neal.

The next year Scrapfest was held in San Antonio!! I'll just tell you right now that not a lot of scrapping got done on my part. I knew all I would do was talk since that was all I did the previous year. Soooo....I PACKED NOTHING scrapbook related. Yes, that's right. I went to a crop and didn't take anything to, well, crop. I made some pages for other folks but nothing for myself.

It was another fabulous Scrapfest. Not only because of meeting new friends, seeing old ones again, and the fabulous River Walk.....but because I WON A HUGE PRIZE!! Okay, that really was secondary to all the great time spent with friends. Honest.

I missed last year's event. It made me slightly sad so I made up for it by going to see some scrapping friends in Canada. We didn't scrap. We drank and gambled. These scrappers are WILD I tell 'ya!

This year's event promises to be just as fun. Lesle was unable to carry the tradition of a live event, but she has outdone herself with the new website. Come join us!!

TEXAS SCRAPFEST!! You'll have fun. If you are a scrapbooker, you'll have fun. I promise!!

Doin' a little scrappin TEXAS STYLE!

Sunday, July 25, 2010

So today was the first day of the Texas Scrapfest. Unlike previous years this year's Scrapfest is being held as an on-line event. Yay to Lesle Mora, Event Organizer and Fabulouso. The event looks to be a fun one and there are great prizes to be had!

I've been scrapping all day. Well, in between cooking dinner, laundry and cleaning the kitchen. Here's the challenges I've gotten done so far:

Challenge #1
Find three pictures that represent laughter, light, and love and throw them together on a scrapbook page. Make sure to explain their significance in journaling, and add a bold title.

Challenge #2
Let color inspire you. Scrapbook a photo where color is the most dominant component. Your only other requirement is that you use at least six complementary colors or pattern papers.

Challenge #3
It's all about you! Your page must showcase a recent photo of you. You should also share some of your favorite things with us: book/magazine, color, website dessert, etc.

Challenge #4
Sometimes it's hard to choose which picture is best. This time, you don't have to, because I want you to use all of, or at least four of, the photos you took to get just the right shot.

Challenge #5
Spice up your journaling, by changing the font, color, and/or size, and use pictures to represent some of your words.

I'll be scrapping some more over the next 2 weeks and posting things as I finish them. Hope you'll join us over there!!

A couple of weeks ago I attended a scrapbooking camp near my house. It is always great fun and I got a lot accomplished. The camp I go to starts on Wednesday afternoon and lasts until noon on Sunday.

Here's a couple of pictures of me actually AT scrap camp. Somehow this year I ended up baracading myself in to my little corner. My friends nicknamed it "Fort Pryor".

And here's the proof that I actually got something accomplished....you know, besides chatting. All of these pages are 12x12, with some two-page 12x12 spreads mixed in as well. I also got a chunk of my Fiji album finished. I may post those later, but because of the style of album I'm using for it there is some serious glare with the pictures.

I got the idea for these cute little flowers from the April issue of Scrapbooks Etc. Fun and easy but can consume a lot of time if you need more than one. I like them because you can add an easy embellishment that matches your layout EXACTLY by using papers from the same product line or even scraps from what you have already put on the page. Here's a couple of closeups:
